FUN SHIP Children’s Center:
Where every child has the opportunity to fly, jump, and adventure into the best possible future. Through exploring the world and learning from nature, they discover their passions in a safe and encouraging environment.
Since 1963, Fun Ship Children’s Center has been providing preschool, childcare, and school age care for families in the Hawthorne area. We now have children and grandchildren of our students attending!
A place where all children are welcomed, their identities affirmed, and their minds challenged.

A place for children to be children, learning about the world around them while having fun. (PSST. It’s a good thing when they come home and, when you ask them what they did a school today, they say they played all day.)

A Preschool where children learn all the things they need to know before starting kindergarten.

A place where children of all backgrounds, races, and ethnicities are allowed to be the children that they all are.

A loving home away from home where smiles are abundant and love is plentiful.

Summer Programs

Our 2017 summer program began the week after graduation in June. Every week we had a water day where the children played in the sprinkler and wading pool as well as other water activities. Each week had a theme that we partnered with an in-house field trip. We had the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, the Reptile People, Farm Friendz, and a kids musician come in for the children. We also had the STEM club from El Camino stop by one week with some robots and other “toys” that the children had fun playing with. We ended the summer with a “drive-in” movie night where we watched a toy story under the stars. Make plans now to join us next year!
